Senior Trip: Chicago Church Tour
and Lunch
Thursday, October 3, 2024 — 8:15am - 5:00pm
History and architectural beauty are the focus of our church tours.
Our first stop is Old St. Patrick's Church, the oldest Roman Catholic Church and oldest public building in Chicago. It survived the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and is often referred to as "the cornerstone of Irish culture".
Next we will visit St. John Cantius Church, a historic church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. It is renowned for its architectural beauty and unique programs of solemn liturgies, sacred art, and music. The interior has been retained and restored and is reminiscent of the art and architecture of 18th century Kraków.
After touring St. John Cantius Church we will head to 312 Chicago for an Italian buffet.
Following lunch is a tour of First United Methodist Church of Chicago located at the Chicago Temple Building - the tallest church building in the world (568 ft.). Those who cannot climb the steps to the temple can stay in the sanctuary and watch a virtual tour of the chapel.
