For decades, Christmas in Chicago meant a trip or two to State Street. Join us as historical presenter Leslie Goddard takes us on a journey to relive our childhoods and remember what “Christmas on State Street” used to be.

This illustrated talk will trace the history of Christmas at the big department stores and discuss how department stores went all-out for Christmas. Photographs, ads, postcards, menus and memorabilia trace cherished traditions- from the animated window displays and the Christmas parade to beloved characters like Uncle Mistletoe, the Cinnamon Bear and of course, Rudoph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

After the presentation is a delicious lunch from Relish Catering. Lunch includes parmesan panko-crusted chicken in white wine reduction sauce, parmesan garlic roasted potatoes and honey glazed brown sugar baby carrots.
