Senior Event: Chili Cook-Off and Bears Presentation
Monday, January 13, 2025 — 11:30am
Do you believe that chili and football go hand in hand? Do you have a great chili recipe that you would like to share with your fellow members?? If so, you won’t want to miss this afternoon filled with chili and Chicago Bears!! Sign up to bring a crockpot of chili and let the members' mouths do the talking.
After lunch, sports historian Charles Billington discusses his most recent work, "The 1963 Chicago Bears." This largely forgotten team is one many experts feel was the most dominant NFL squad of the pre-Super Bowl era. Charles discusses the athletic, economic, legal, and social aspects of this team and Chicago's reaction to their first championship in sixteen years, along with how the early 1960s was a watershed period in pro football's emergence as America's pastime.
This is an afternoon you will be sure to enjoy.
We need one crockpot of chili for every 10 people signed up! The Senior Center will provide sour cream, cheese, chives, and oyster crackers.
